06/18/2006: "Movies"
I saw "Batman Begins" today. Pretty good movie. The scenes shot in Waukegan, for which the extras were paid for 3 nights (39 hours), lasted less than 15 seconds. And I'd say it was less than 5 seconds where you could actually see the cars driven by the extras going the opposite direction of the batmobile. Probably about half a dozen were visible, out of the 60 that were out there. I'm sure the cost of those 3 nights was insignificant in the big picture, but still, multiply that by hundreds of others, and it's pretty easy to see why your movie's budget has no problem getting to 9 figures.
