Cooper: Diane, last night I dreamed I was eating a large, tasteless gumdrop, and awoke to discover I was chewing on one of my foam disposable earplugs. Perhaps I should consider moderating my nighttime coffee consumption.

02/22/2008: "Theater"

Last chance to see me in my boxer shorts! Thankfully for the general public, that only lasts for a few seconds at the beginning of the show. Curtain goes up for the final performance of "The Fantasticks" at 7 pm tonight, at CLC, in the C wing's auditorium. And it's only 5 bucks! Now I begin the long journey from Rosemont to Grayslake.

I think there were close to 30 in the house last night. I'm not doing the books, but I'd guess for 4 shows we averaged a little more than 20 per show. Not enough to break even; but this is art, baby! smile They make up for it on the children's musicals, anyway, with large numbers of children in the cast. Those are probably cheaper to produce and generate more revenue to boot.

No one recorded this show; too bad, I'd say it was one of my favorites. (None have topped "Oklahoma!", though.) I have something like 20% of my shows on tape/dvd, which doesn't include some of my best (like this one or "Bye Bye Birdie", for example).
