Cooper: Diane, last night I dreamed I was eating a large, tasteless gumdrop, and awoke to discover I was chewing on one of my foam disposable earplugs. Perhaps I should consider moderating my nighttime coffee consumption.

02/23/2007: "Theater"

It would seem that each performance of "Bye Bye Birdie" is better than the last. Everyone who's been holding off until this Sunday's final show is looking pretty clever now. At least, I hope they keep getting better. But let's face it. I can't really tell. I don't feel that rush of being in a great show at the end of the night. But every night might just have been the amusing and entertaining experience that the audiences and the rest of the cast seem to believe each night to have been. Is it possible that the whole world has become delusional and I'm the only one sane? Could I simply have lost the ability to enjoy what everyone thinks is so obviously easy to enjoy? Perhaps, rabbit. Perhaps. Could I have lost the ability to enjoy anything? Drink deep from the well of understanding. For tomorrow it may be raining blood. Forsooth.
