Cooper: Diane, last night I dreamed I was eating a large, tasteless gumdrop, and awoke to discover I was chewing on one of my foam disposable earplugs. Perhaps I should consider moderating my nighttime coffee consumption.

07/12/2008: "Cary Grant"

More Cary Grant Project! So soon I've stumbled across a Cary Grant movie that I haven't seen several times. It's "The Pride And The Passion". I don't want to say that I didn't like it -- because I can't believe I might not like a Cary Grant movie -- but this wasn't really a Cary Grant movie by anyone's definition. By itself, this isn't that bad of a movie. It just doesn't meet the expectations of having Cary Grant, Frank Sinatra, and Sophia Loren as the stars. There's no lighthearted fun here. Because it's about Spain being invaded by France in the early 19th century and the efforts of a rag-tag bunch of rebels to use the world's largest cannon to fight back. I didn't recognize Sinatra as the leader of the rebels with a bad wig and a bad Spanish accent. And Loren was supposed to be torn between Sinatra and Grant, but none of them seemed much interested in anything. I'm thinking this might be the lowest rated movie on this list (if I were actually rating them) and I've managed to get it out of the way so early in the Project!

As of today, my Cary Grant Project total is at three:
1. "The Philadelphia Story", 1940, also starring Katharine Hepburn & James Stewart
2. "North By Northwest", 1959, also starring Eva Marie Saint & James Mason
3. "The Pride And The Passion", 1957, also starring Frank Sinatra and Sophia Loren

Is that a typo? You accidentally wrote that you've seen zero Cary Grant movies. Come on, Steve. You're a grown man. I'm sure you've had some kind of Cary Grant experience.
