Cooper: Diane, last night I dreamed I was eating a large, tasteless gumdrop, and awoke to discover I was chewing on one of my foam disposable earplugs. Perhaps I should consider moderating my nighttime coffee consumption.

09/13/2007: "Pointless Filler #27"

Hey, one more weekend to see Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple (female version)" in sunny Round Lake!

As this show is wrapping up, you'd think I'd be continuing my tradition of more auditions. But my impending surgicalifragilicious procedure kind of puts a damper on that. I am going to be Drosselmeyer in this December's "The Nutcracker" again (third fantastic year!), which will be my fifth show of 2007; it was the sixth show of both 2005 and 2006. (This year's "Nutcracker" will be my 23rd show overall.)

Speaking of surgery (6th abdominal surgery overall), how cool is it that the University of Chicago Hospitals have high speed wireless access throughout the facilities. As do many hospitals now. Of course, as a patient, the problem is how can you bring something valuable like your precious laptop into a hospital room where you're likely to be passed out half the time while a steady stream of strangers comes in and out all day. I can't see doing it. I'll just have to live like it's 1985 and go cold turkey from that internet thing while incarcerated on the south side of Chicago.

Ah, 1985. Such a simple time.
