Cooper: Diane, last night I dreamed I was eating a large, tasteless gumdrop, and awoke to discover I was chewing on one of my foam disposable earplugs. Perhaps I should consider moderating my nighttime coffee consumption.

04/22/2006: "Movies"

I love this line from "The Lion In Winter". Katharine Hepburn (as Eleanor of Aquitaine) is surrounded by her 3 sons, and one of them, Richard (Anthony Hopkins) pulls a knife on John who runs away from him screaming, A knife, he's got a knife! And Katharine Hepburn says:

Of course he has a knife. He always has a knife. We all have knives. It's 1183 and we're barbarians.

Missed that one, Dan. Are you on an oldschool movie kick? The "Sabata" Trilogy was recently put on DVD. I'd seen 2 & 3, but not the 1st. They're pretty old too. Yesterday I was in Washington Court House (the old state capital) and saw something out of the 1940's. A couple of local prisoners dressed in orange and black were washing the sheriff's car. Bet they couldn't get away with that on the East Side.

Places like Washington CH and Chillicothe fascinate me. Why aren't they ghost towns? Where do all the people who live there work? I mean, they aren't teeming metropolises or anything, but still.... For example, Chillicothe has 22,000 people and it's 45 miles from Columbus. Well, I suppose you could make that commute. Anyway, "The Lion In Winter" is pretty interesting. Surpising for a movie about a king and queen bickering over which son will take over the kingdom in 12th century England. But it's got Peter O'Toole, Katharine Hepburn, and Anthony Hopkins. Plus a young Timothy Dalton as the king of France!
