Theater
That was fun. Sometimes it seems like the auditions don't come around often enough. As usual, though, I went in full of intentions to smile and move around and even put some drawl into my voice when I did my song -- this is Oklahoma, after all; or, I suppose, Oklahoma! -- but once I got up there it came out in my normal, everday, boring, emotionless voice. Surprisingly, for such a well-known, popular show, they're short of guys. (I don't know overall, but there were only 3 guys tonight, if you count me and the 2 high school kids who were there.) And they kept reminding us of that and asking people to tell any guys they know to come out on the night of the callbacks, even though the two nights of auditions are over. I certainly understand. On the other hand, it's like, hello, how's that supposed to make me feel when I'm right there hearing, we need more guys, we need more guys. Not that it really matters. I put down that I was only interested in 3 main roles. Because that's how it is. I'm not interested in the chorus. I'd rather move on to the next audition. The main character I left off was Curly. I would have put him on my list 4th (after Will, Jud and Ali) but they only had 3 lines for entering the roles you want to be considered for. I know the chances of getting one of those 3 roles is pretty slim. But the lead? That's just crazy talk. My chances of getting that would be whatever comes below none. It's still fun, though. And I did appreciate that they didn't have a space for "age" on their forms. A lot of places do and I'm like, hey, you can see me. If I look like your idea of the character, my actual age shouldn't be an issue.
