Cooper: Diane, last night I dreamed I was eating a large, tasteless gumdrop, and awoke to discover I was chewing on one of my foam disposable earplugs. Perhaps I should consider moderating my nighttime coffee consumption.

Movies

As I was watching "The Philadelphia Story" yesterday -- not for the first time -- it occurred to me that -- also not for the first time -- I don't think there's a movie Cary Grant did that I don't like. Perhaps I just like the Cary Grant. And I decided on a new little project for myself. (Never mind that there are already a million unfinished little projects in my head.) Starting with yesterday, and ignoring all that went before yesterday (I'd estimate I've seen about 9 of his flicks), I'm going to watch all of Cary Grant's movies. Not in a day or a week, but, you know, eventually. This may not, in fact, be possible -- he did an awful lot in the '30s -- but that never stopped me before. Actually collecting all of his movies would be an even cooler project, but I'm not going to go that far. Watching them all will be enough.

As of today, my Cary Grant project total is at one:
1. "The Philadelphia Story", 1940, also starring Katharine Hepburn & James Stewart

Theater

Hey, it's me with the rock 'n' roll hair!

That's from "Peter Pan". There are a few other "Peter Pan" pics that are on facebook now, thanks to Nana, aka the Crocodile.

Synchronicity? Or Conspiracy?

Within the last week:
1. I got an email about a new bigwig hired at work who got her undergraduate degree from Ripon College;
2. I saw a woman walking/jogging wearing a Ripon College sweatshirt as I drove home;
3. While enjoying this web page about Franklin Pierce, I followed a (broken) link to another article about Pierce at, yes, Ripon College.

It seems to be everywhere! Maybe it's a sign. Gas up the Buick. Road trip to Ripon, Wisconsin! (It's only 23 miles from Oshkosh!)

Standup Philosopher

Remember the good old 1980s?
When things were so uncomplicated?
I wish I could go back there again.
And everything could be the same.
