Cooper: Diane, last night I dreamed I was eating a large, tasteless gumdrop, and awoke to discover I was chewing on one of my foam disposable earplugs. Perhaps I should consider moderating my nighttime coffee consumption.

Basements

I wonder if there are people you can get to clean the dead bugs out of your basement. Because that would be sweet. I intended to do it myself today -- before it starts getting warm -- but it was just too overwhelming. I swept up a couple small spots before quitting, like around the one guitar amp that I left down there and a powerstrip where some old computer stuff is plugged in. (And it turns out they aren't 100% dead! The bugs, I mean.) I thought if I move some day, I'll want to be able to get to my stuff down there. But maybe I'll just leave it all behind. I'd kind of like my wireless router and dsl modem, but I suppose I could always get new ones. It would be a shame to leave the 800 copies of "One With Landru", though.

TV Game Shows

OK, so I finally saw an episode of "1 vs. 100". And I didn't hate it. Not like I hate "Deal or No Deal". I must admit, I do like the mechanics of the show. And I like how they highlight groups in the mob, like 6 ghost hunters or 3 people struck by lightning. Still, it has its ways of angering up my blood: All the hysterics, the jumping up and down, the over-stimulated "look at me I'm an excited game show contestant" activity which makes me wonder how anyone over the age of 10 can stand it. But to balance it out, they squeeze all the "drama" they can from every question and answer as if they're running a 1-800-Corey line that charges by the minute. And let's not forget how painful it is to watch large groups of people not be able to answer simple questions -- even with a mutliple choice that only has 3 choices -- like what's the square root of 100. These are all good reasons to consider putting a bullet into your tv. Of course, it's also painful to think how easy it all looks -- and then realize that experience has shown that while it may in fact be easy, it's not necessarily easy enough. I can draw one easy conclusion, though: just don't watch.

Theater

I guess I should mention that last Sunday's final show of "Bye Bye Birdie" actually was the best of the run. As far as I could tell. Good thing we had two weekends. Unlike the previous performances, there weren't really any areas that I'd like to see improve. Of course, it is difficult to be objective.
