Cooper: Diane, last night I dreamed I was eating a large, tasteless gumdrop, and awoke to discover I was chewing on one of my foam disposable earplugs. Perhaps I should consider moderating my nighttime coffee consumption.

Snooks

In the last few weeks, I've added a couple CDs to my list of Snooks albums. There's a newer version of "New Orleans Street Singer" and a remastered "Legacy of the Blues" called "The Sonet Blues Story".

NationStates

In the NationStates "game", my nation (Morphinia) -- which I started a few years ago -- has passed 7 billion in population. How about that!

(NationStates contains over 75,000 nations, btw.)

Pointless Filler #27

A couple things happened this past weekend. First, my streak of not drinking pop was broken. It had been 10 months. Even though I didn't set out to never drink pop again, after a while, you realize it's been so long and you start thinking, wow, it's been so long, I have to keep this record going. Kind of like if you've got some junk around the house that probably should be thrown out. If it sits there long enough, you can't get rid of it. It becomes nostalgia. Some kind of historical artifact. (Well, I still have my other, unintentional streak: it's been 11 months since I had any alcohol.) Hmm. Now that my no-pop streak is history, maybe I should chug those Vanilla Cokes sitting in my fridge since last year. Sweet, delicious Coke. What's that? You want me to drink you?

The second thing was that I scratched my rims parking on a downtown street. Not my beautiful rims! Blast you, unyielding curb! At least it's on the passenger side so I won't see it very often.

Oh, yeah. And my sister got married. That leaves 4 of us kids who have never married (and 5 who have). If there's some kind of prize for being the last one standing, I probably have a pretty good shot at it. What's that? There is a prize? Oh, a lifetime of peace and happiness. OK, if that's what you say, I have no reason to doubt you, voices in my head.

Cary Grant

The Cary Grant Project continues. Today was "North By Northwest". Yeah. I'll get to the more obscure ones some day. Eventually. This was his fourth Hitchcock film. Grant was 55 when this came out and I'd say an awfully youthful looking 55. I guess that's at least partly how they got away with his mother being played by someone only 7 years older.

As of today, my Cary Grant project total is at two:
1. "The Philadelphia Story", 1940, also starring Katharine Hepburn & James Stewart
2. "North By Northwest", 1959, also starring Eva Marie Saint & James Mason

Theater

One more weekend of "Brigadoon" to go. I understand that they're almost out of seats for the final 3 shows. It's a mystery to me where all these (community) theater-goers come from. Yesterday's show was actually interrupted by the fire alarm going off in the second act. Nothing had happened in all the rehearsals and previous shows, but eventually, fog machines will do that. At least it wasn't raining.
