If you check out my list of auditions, you'll notice that I recently went to my 50th audition. And from that audition, rehearsals start tomorrow for "The Fantasticks". Yes, I've done that before. This time, however, it's a different part: The Mute. No songs, no dialog. In a way, I think that makes it harder because it's all about blocking, which is the hardest part of a role to practice and memorize when you're at home sitting on the couch.

Cary Grant


Today's Cary Grant movie is one of those rare ones where the lower-class Englishman Cary Grant plays a lower-class Englishman. You know, instead of the usual WASPy American. It's "None But The Lonely Heart". He starts out as a carefree ne'er-do-well. But then reality sets in and the relentless suffering and misery of everyday life takes over. A great reminder that all is not sunshine and lollipops. But a pretty depressing movie.
