Cooper: Diane, last night I dreamed I was eating a large, tasteless gumdrop, and awoke to discover I was chewing on one of my foam disposable earplugs. Perhaps I should consider moderating my nighttime coffee consumption.

TV

Step 1. Get picked -- or at least get the application in early enough to get picked -- for the "auditions" for a game show. VH1's having this game show this summer, "World Series Of Pop Culture". It's being run by the same guy who brought "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" to America. Coincidentally. I got my 3 person team qualified and in 2 weeks we're going to see if we can pass the written test and interview in Chicago, the traditional first steps in becoming a contestant.

Step 2. Pass the written test and impress the kids working as production assistants on the show and move on to a mock game against other "winners". Unfortunately, step 2 in Chicago leads to a Sunday afternoon, the same Sunday afternoon as the final performance of "Butterflies Are Free". I expect my 3 man team to make it to this round and then I'll have to bail due to commitments to the play. Bummer. Of course, by saying that, I could be jinxing us to not even get past that first round.

Theater

This week it's finally starting to feel like I expected when I got myself into two shows at once. Until now I've only had 2 or 3 rehearsals a week -- and some of those were abbreviated. This week -- and we're only 8 days from opening night for "Butterflies Are Free" -- I've had rehearsals every night for one show or the other, running from Monday through this coming Saturday. Of course, that does cut into my brooding time. But sacrifices must be made!

Lazy Sunday

I imagine the world is flooded with stuff like this now, but I made my own version of "Lazy Sunday", which I call "Lazy Off Broadway Sunday". I don't have a video camera. Or a bushelbasketful of great ideas to throw on the screen. (I do have a digital camera, but you can't do much with the small 10 fps clips it can capture.) Even so, this little movie (6.5 meg, about a minute to download on dsl) doesn't disgust me.

And what better endorsement from the creator could you want!

Coincidence

Holy crap, Brian. On last week's "Family Guy", they had a whole musical number with Peter doing "Shipoopi". You know, "the girl is hard to get." That's been my main audition song lately, whenever I audition for anything that requires you to prepare a song. Of course, the only time I got cast after doing that song was "Charlie Brown", and the fact that there weren't enough guys auditioning probably had more to do with it than my brilliant interpretation of a tune made famous by Buddy Hackett.
